11th Annual March on Main Street Schedule:

SUNDAY, Jan 17, 2016 – March on Main Street, Award Contest Winners, Entertainment, and Performances.

The HVMLK Day Committee will host the 11th annual March on Main Street from Prospect Hill to The Suzanne Haskew Arts Center starting at 1:00 p.m. on SUNDAY January 16th. Following the march at SHAC, we will host a post-March ceremony including music performances and information on local volunteer opportunities.  Hot beverages and light refreshments will be offered.  Additionally, the entries for this year’s art/writing/multimedia contest will be on display, and awards will be presented for this year’s winners

All events offered by the HVMLK Day Committee are free and open to the public. 

March Line-up starts at 12:30PM at 'Prospect Hill Shopping Center' located at 516 Highland Ave., Milford, MI 48357.

1:00PM- March On Main Street

2016's March on Main Street from Prospect Hill to SHAC. Groups are encouraged to march together with signs designating their support of MLK Day. The SHAC is located at 125 South Main Street, Suite 700 (next to River’s Edge Brewing Co.).

Marchers are also encouraged to dine in downtown Milford, before making their way to Prospect Hill for the march.

The Carls Family YMCA is also dedicating a bus to the afternoon’s ceremony for local citizens who want to participate in the March but can’t necessarily walk the entire distance.  The bus will be parked at Prospect Hill during the line up and space will be on a first come, first serve basis.  It will return to Prospect Hill following the conclusion of the March at The SHAC.

 

 

Schedule of 2016’s March on Main Street:

  • 12:30 PM Line up at Prospect Hill begins.

  • 1:00 PM- Opening Statements.

  • National Anthem.

  • Color Guard provided by the American Legion.

  • Brief speech by Isaac regarding significance of the March.

  • March down Main Street with "I Have a Dream" Speech playing through speakers.

  • End of March music performance at SHAC. Entertainment, award artist contest winners, performances, and information on local volunteer opportunities.
